On Tuesday, Oct. 10, Fairfield County resident Courtenay Evans, age 26, turned herself in for the incident, which happened in July 2023, according to Darien County Police.

Evans, who lives in Darien, reportedly called 911 on July 23, 2023, to report that a house was on fire across the street from her home on Chasmars Pond Road.

When officers arrived, however, there was no sign of a house fire.

Evans originally told police officers that she didn’t make the fake call.

Upon further investigation, Evans’ phone records revealed that she had, in fact, made a call to 911 on that day, and a warrant was issued for her arrest.

She is charged with:

  • Falsely reporting an incident
  • Misuse of the emergency 911 system

Evans is scheduled to be arraigned on Tuesday, Oct. 24.
